Biggest sea beasts ever caught by stunned fishermen – from ‘Codzilla’ to 97st monster

From Codzilla to the world’s biggest fish, the oceans are filled with giant sea beasts – and we’ve been taking a look at some of the most infamous and shocking finds from the deep below

The world is full of mysterious animals but none more so than the creatures of the sea.

More often than not, most of those live deep in the depths of the ocean – and the vast majority of them are either utterly gigantic or the stuff of nightmares.

From a giant beast called Codzilla, to a 97st monster you’d make a world record breaking fish and chip supper with, we’ve put together a list of some of the biggest sea beasts ever caught.

It was earlier this month that a bloke caught a fish so big it was given the nickname of Codzilla.

From Western Australia, Kyle Poole had to ask his partner to help him reel in the massive Malabar cod.

After hooking the freakish fish off the coast of Exmouth, in the north of the state, all he could say was “oh my god!”

The “absolute monster” was so strong that it “pulled the boat around” – the pitch of the “oh my god” shouts only get higher and higher as its true size became apparent.

Kyle then added: “Wow, that is the biggest thing I’ve ever caught… absolute monster”.

But is it the biggest on the list?

Find out below.
