Brazen monkey kidnaps puppy from busy street and takes it on wild ride over rooftops

A kidnapping monkey grabbed a dog from a busy market and dragged it to a nearby rooftop – and while the poor pooch attempted to wriggle free, it was sadly unsuccessful

A monkey kidnapped a dog from the middle of a busy market before taking the pet on a wild rooftop adventure.

The monkey nabbed the black and white pup from a busy street in Jaipur, India and climbed to the rooftops.

The entire shocking incident was captured on camera by a bystander on Saturday (March 18).

Footage shows the simian monkey holding the pooch in a vice-like grip as the pet tries to wriggle itself free.

But the primate stayed calm and simply stared back at the crowd as they looked up in anticipation for its next move.

People can be heard laughing in the footage while others gasp in horror – but no one made a move to help the poor puppy.

When the monkey started to draw a larger crowd, it began to flee.

With the dog in one hand, the monkey leapt to a nearby balcony before making the harrowing jump from rooftop to rooftop with the dog in tow.

The creature then vanished completely.

It is unknown what happened to the puppy, but if recent incidents are anything to go by it doesn’t look good.

Jaipur is near a large colony of monkeys. One of its Hindu temples has been dubbed The Monkey Temple.

According to the New York Post, the city has become a tourist hotspot for those wanting to see the monkeys, despite travel websites warning the beasts often steal from you.

The publication reported how two monkeys reportedly killed around 250 dogs in 2021 in Maharashtra – 621 south of the city.

It’s believed they slaughtered the dogs by dragging them to a height and dropping them to their deaths.

In Malaysia, another monkey was captured on video kidnapping a puppy, with the dog held hostage for three days in September 2021.

After multiple rescue attempts, residents in Taman Lestari Putra succeeded in freeing the pup after throwing rocks at the monkey, causing it to put the dog down as it fled.
