Goose Worried About her Boyfriend, Tracks Him Down to the Hospital

A while back, it was noticed by the staff ad Cape Wildlife Center in Massachusetts that someone was in need of help. There lived a wild goose named Arnold in a pond nearby, and he was seen having trouble walking, due to a hurt foot, hence, the kind staff at the center decided to admit the poor bird to their wildlife hospital for treatment. However, there was someone else concerned about the goose’s wellbeing.

After a thorough examination, vets found that Arnold’s foot was injured and would need surgery to fix it. However, his absence from the pond didn’t go unnoticed. As it seemed, he had a girlfriend, who had been a lifelong mate and had been with him for years. She had searched for him and found him at the hospital, and she wasn’t about to deny him moral support in his time of greatest need.

Staff at the center had this to say about the goose couple: “As we prepared to sedate Arnold and get him ready for surgery, we heard a faint tapping at the clinic door. We turned to see that his mate had waddled up onto the porch and was attempting to break into our clinic! She had somehow located him …” Whatever said and done, the surgery done on Arnold’s foot was a success, and his mate wanted and demanded nothing less. The staff also wrote: “She remained there throughout the entire procedure, watching us work, never moving from the doorway.”

After everything was done, the staff placed Arnold near the doorway and opened the door to let the two geese be together. It will take a few weeks for Arnold to fully recover, but that’s something he won’t have to go through alone. As his girlfriend would be worried, the clinic staff plan on letting her visiting continue for the remainder of Arnold’s recovery.

Finally, the staff had this to say: “They both seemed much more at ease in each other’s presence. We will do our best to get him back out quickly and will perform bandage changes and treatments in view of the doorway when possible so that his mate can check up on him. Through sickness and health …”
